In reality, only we know ourselves if we have swiped a credit/debit card for a purchase or started an online payment from our credit account or bank account.
Today, credit and debit cards have become the primary form of monetary exchange. The cards are personally unique and indirectly they represent a form of identity issued and used by organizations to represent our lines of credit or assets. It is assumed that their “presentation” officially confirms the transaction be completed. As a result, not knowing who is actually performing the “presentation” has allowed fraud.
Obtaining an approval for the “transaction” continuance can prevent that fraud.
Similar to the other forms of identity related action approval, there are two major aspects: asking a request and waiting for response. The later depends on the respondent having a Sentry account with the credit/debit card being used having been created and the Sentry application installed on one of their devices.
With those requirements completed, obtaining approval for its use is simple. The most difficult aspect of doing so is determining when and where to ask for approvals. The summary details of the transaction become basis of the question which will be asked, i.e., “Do you approve the payment of $493.55 to At Home Furniture?”. Clarity is important with an expectation of solely a “Yes” or “No” response for the transaction to proceed.
When seeking an action approval involving an "Credit/Debit Card" online here, there are four fields that need to be completed on the form: 1) Credit/Debit Card Issuer 2) Card Number 3) Amount 4) Payee. The “Credit/Debit Card Issuer” field is for bank or other financial organization card provider. The “Card Number” field for is the card number being used. The card number should be in the same form as officially used, i.e., ”1234 1234 1234 1234” or “1234123412341234”. Finally, and very important, the “Payee” field is just that.
Compete the form and select ”Send Approval Request”. Each approval request, when sent for immediate response, is given 3 minutes to be responded to. If not responded to within that time limit, the default response will be recorded as ”No”. It will be present here as "Response not received within allocated time period".
Once the response is received, the reaction should be proceed with the card's use or don't. If not responded to and still appropriate, retry.
It is hoped that in the future, banks and financial institution will integrate this type of action approval into their systems.
