Understand Getting Approvals For Actions

Involving An User ID

In reality, we are the only person who knows if we are actually using our "User ID" to log in or are involved in approving a system's activity's action.

“User ID’s” are a specific type of alternative identity for controlling access to systems, both internal and online, by organizations. Additionally, they may be assigned as a approver for systems' activities and actions continance. Their uniqueness is necessary globally to interact with individuals via "Sentry". Traditionally, systems have not been required to use globally unique user ids, just unique to their domains.

A "User ID" represents some form of specified relationship to organizations. The possible variations of relationship and interaction variations are infinite, but specific in many activities, especially those needing approval before continuing.

Like the use of other identity types, obtaining approval for their use has two major aspects: asking a request and waiting for response. The most common question is for “log ins”. The later depends on the respondent having a Sentry account with the user id to be requested approval from associated with it and the Sentry application installed on one of their devices.

When seeking an action approval involving an "User ID" online here, there are three fields that need to be completed on the form: 1) Requester 2) Identity 3) Identity Use. The “Requester” field is either you or the organization you represent. The “Identity” field is for the identity of the individual to be asked for approval of its use for the “Identity Use” being specified, i.e., logging into a bank account or the company’s network.

Complete the form and select ”Send Approval Request ”. Each approval request, when sent for immediate response, is given 3 minutes to be responded to. If not responded to within that time limit, the default response will be recorded as ”No”. It will be present here as "Response not received within allocated time period".

Once the response is received, the reaction should be activity continuance, discontinuance or approval request retry.
